Give all, leave nothing

Give me this, I’m taking that your shrill call cuts

The air sliced into rough edges

Hewn jaggedly from unexpected demands

On time, people, life, AIR!

You split things up to gain your way

Crying tears that utter apology but are bitter

At being caught out and not winning the battle

That was in the bag , wasn’t it?

Nobody cleverer you utter

A vain tattoo beating on the wind

As backs turn and the lock clangs

Heart door swinging shut for the last time

Leaving you in the cold night

Carry on

Carry on the words chime through

The bells that toll to say your choices

Have been removed or changed

Your world is smaller and circle shrinking

Just as they planned so shrink is the only option

Expand, grow, step forth with no fear

Carry on as you did before, no don’t!!

Make yourself show bright and light

Fight back not with weapons but words

Keep going as you would if they weren’t instilling fear

The only dead thing must be your calm

Do what you want, need and desire

Does it hurt or harm the human race?

No???

Why hesitate….while you do they win

Carry on as maybe never before

The Attic

There’s something here that you keep telling me to find

Not with words but imagery

Apparently I’ll know it when I see it

The walls so old and dusty that I  barely see paper on the walls

Smell of old books rising from boxes long neglected

All here dumped, forgotten, dusty and old

Scrub at the walls to reveal a rich ruby pattern on once cream

Was this a haven for someone?

It feels like it could become one if the boxes are moved

Just stacked elsewhere here not taken away

I see the space is huge,  beams above my head

A threadbare carpet covering the floor and a shaft of light

From where? Following the line find a tiny window painted in dark colour

The rejected here was also protected I muse

Beauty hidden in old boxes, a dirty wooden trunk

Carved symbols and initials are waiting to be unveiled

Will I ever leave this room?

I have needed to return to a place I can’t recall seeing

But it’s like a hazy memory

I can only leave when it’s all tidily boxed away

Rearranged like the protective armour that stops

The past from invading the future

Stardust

Come O fearful one

Closer to the edge of new beginnings

Shuffle forward if your feet

Refuse to boldly stride ahead

Worry not that you progress slowly

Promise yourself only motion speed comes later

Steps will sometimes be sideways

Acknowledge backward as only a direction

You wish not to travel

Look back only to discover your next step

And assure you you are still going forward

Don’t tell yourself it’s not fast enough for them

If it satisfies you

Push the edges of your world to expand

To radiate

Burst forth with your passion your fire

Heart not afraid at steps over the edge

As you take the leap you have to

You are now free to dazzle and shine

Like the stardust creature you are

JUMP!!

Light up the shadows

Those lights he said are the souls of the dead

Flying the skies like birds in formation

Migrating from this world to that without anything but

A whispered wing beat to guide them

Through mists and time, dawn to dusk they go through the veil

Of twisted time and bravery stopped them repeating

So they shine their coloured expanse above in

Fantastical colours speaking silently of magical powers

We cower hiding our eyes so the gods are not angered

Except for the one who cannot tear their eyes away

I watch through fingers and pretend to have fear

Though I feel only majestic colours dancing in front of me

Around me and I wish I could tell what I saw

But the lights are on show if you open to see

Look through fingers if you dare maybe tell nobody

You will marvel silently at what they show you

The elders of before

As they light up the shadows

Graceful symmetry

It was a time of almost perfect everything

You were with me…. and not

Nothing withheld as you came like a thief in the night

I gave gladly yet knowing it would die as a star

Burns bright to it’s end leaving a shower maybe

Dust and then nothing to touch me

Until one day you suddenly would….

Not skin to skin or tangle of limbs alight with sparks

You left a call on the wind that I can hear now

Saying you cared in the only way you could

You were a different person then

Fitting in or hoping to live up to some dream

Belonging to another bestowed on you

Well meant I don’t doubt

I observe now your being the person I saw beneath

Not sad I don’t have you

But that you found happiness and don’t look for the

Symmetry, graceful symmetry as the only guide

You see without the crowd you began to be

A floater on the edge of vision

The symmetry once I imagined we had in abundance

Gone with life being lived

Breath being felt violently cold in lungs shrivelled

So busy with the graceful symmetry of us

That I stopped inhaling, exhaling

And shrivelled shrunken almost to nothing

First breath shocking as I saw there was no likeness

Nothing for me except newness and changing tides

And you were washed away wailing

That you’d become transparent or as you said

Misunderstood

Built on a fable

The things you were sure were absolute truth

Lie in pieces on your minds cutting room floor

Stories force fed from childhood through youth

Leave you wondering what else you don’t know

As your beliefs have just fled through the door

There are dark things that whisper in the edge of your mind

Some may be real most are not

You regret thoughts you had about someone you knew

What was the need for such a secretive plot?

The answers to queries you’ll never receive

So let them go back before you

Make them  unimportant and give them no spot

Or your mind they’ll never leave

Treat them as memories someone wished to be true

But not as spectres to keep haunting you

Andrina

Andrina sits on the hillside watching

Events unfold at her feet

Seeing lives living and dying

She never misses a beat

Her curios and stories scattered everywhere

As toys on a playroom floor

All laid bare for none but her

She will change the ending once more

The wind whistles round at her fingertips

And she whispers words of yore

Screaming wildly that unhinged anger slips

Calling up a night of storms and thunder

Determined to have her will she dips

Dropped to ground she doesn’t care to touch

Watching as her little paradise shows

It’s never gonna be the green haven she craves

Till she tills at the earth mixing

The shadows are beautifully existing

Her voice howls and squeals as she goes

Swallowed by the mist

I heard the news that my nightmare was gone

That the past has set me free

No longer will I see you and shake while putting

A mask over my face, mind screaming RUN!!

The message that delivered the news made me sigh

Never wished you ill but no more checking out every

Direction because you might appear

One day

Thinking do I visit where the past dwells

Some things were subtle and I thought it imagined

You kept saying I’d never cope

But I did and I have

I can never forget the words that chilled my blood

After your tears had fallen in hot angry springs

The begging on deaf ears

The casual words of I wonder if we should get married

I wonder if a dead woman would be so bold

Always wanted to kill someone

And yet I don’t hate

You don’t exist anymore

My gratitude for the news that gives me peace immeasurable

Even if that makes me a monster

You are swallowed by the mist of time

Promise to dust

Promises fill the air floating as dust motes

See them dancing prettily full of maybes

This time is the whisper

Your hand grasps out not greedy but desperate

For this time to be the one time

And you can hold it close forever

Inhale it deeply to keep feeling it

Once more

Once more you see

The dust promise float away

You hide troth upon falsehood so it crumbles

Impermanent and imperfect

Like a frost that draws you to step up test it’s reality

And it melts, crumbling away to

The dust promise it always was
